COMPLEX ASSET DIVISION
Courts usually allow fair and reasonable property division arrangements that the parties agree to. But if both parties cannot agree, the property will be divided by the California Superior Court. Unlike most states, California is a "community property state," which means that all shared assets and debt acquired from the start of the marriage except those acquired by gift, inheritance or assets held prior to marriage until separation are divided and distributed equally during divorce.
At the Sims Family Law Group, APC, we are committed to asserting your financial interests. We offer a wide range of services, including:
Advice and counsel regarding the valuation of businesses
Examination and valuation of stocks and other assets
Reviewing complex separate property tracing claims
Division of a professional practice or other business
Anticipating how property division decisions will affect your tax burden
Attorney Abraham Hart has established a stellar reputation in the area of property division, valuation of stocks, and other complex property matters. During their years together, Abraham and fellow attorneys Hannah Sims and Molly Laughlin have developed an effective working relationship that enables them to target areas of concern and quickly and efficiently grasp the tools to best resolve issues that arise in complex property division.
Regardless of your legal needs, the Sims Family Law Group is committed to protecting your interests.
Experience in Family Law and Taxation
Founding attorney Hannah Sims has a Master of Law in Taxation (LL.M.), so we can offer additional advice on how to manage your divorce in a way that impacts your finances as little as possible in the long term.
Our goal is to use your time and resources efficiently. If we can reach a mutually satisfactory settlement with your spouse, we will typically pursue this path to save you time and money. But if a disagreement cannot be resolved through negotiation, we are always prepared to pursue litigation to assert your interests.
